SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH — At 700 S. and West Temple in Salt Lake City on Wednesday morning, an Uber car crashed into a TRAX train, killing a person in the car.
The train was going east through the intersection when the Uber car going south at about 40 mph ran a red light, according to the police.
James Larson, a spokesman for UTA, said that the back of the car hit the front of the TRAX train.
Larson said that people who saw the accident and tried to help the passenger but failed. The driver wasn’t hurt too badly.
Salt Lake City Police are investigating the accident, and the intersection will be closed for up to five hours.
In the meantime, UTA runs a bus bridge between the TRAX stations at Courthouse and Ballpark.
