JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. – An accident on Interstate 10 that occurred close to Marianna in Jackson County and resulted in the death of a semi-truck driver is now being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol.
A van was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 around mile marker 138 around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday when, for reasons that have not been determined by the state police, it crossed the median into the other lane of traffic and collided with a semi.
The truck continued onto the south shoulder and drove into a ditch, while the van was pushed back towards the median of the road. The trailer of the truck jackknifed and ended up on its side on top of the cab of the semi.
According to the FHP, the semi-truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. At this point, the identity of the driver has not been revealed.
