TREMONTON — The Utah Highway Patrol reported one fatality and five injuries as a result of an incident on Interstate 15 soon after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Interstate 15 northbound, police got reports of a vehicle traveling very slowly. The Utah Highway Patrol made contact with the vehicle off the roadway, according to Sgt. Cam Roden.
The vehicle subsequently returned to Interstate 15 and resumes reckless driving, according to Roden. After reentering the roadway, the automobile was struck from behind by a semitruck, according to troopers.
According to officers, the vehicle then veered off the roadway to the right after the incident.
A female passenger in her 20s was ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe injuries. Roden stated that she was transferred to the hospital where she eventually died.
There were four children in the vehicle, and three of them were hurt. A 3-year-old was ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Roden stated that the car’s driver, an adult male, sustained minor injuries. The semitruck driver also sustained some minor injuries.
Since then, the I-15 northbound lanes in Tremonton have been freed.
