Officials say that nine people are still missing after a float plane crashed in Washington’s Mutiny Bay on Sunday afternoon. Rescuers are looking for them.
The plane crashed around 3 p.m., killing all 10 people on board, including a child, according to a news release from the US Coast Guard’s Pacific Northwest district.
The news release said that the body of one person had been found. First reports said there were nine people on board.
Mutiny Bay is north of Seattle and just west of Whidbey Island.
Even though it was first said that the plane was going to Seattle Tacoma International Airport, USCG Pacific Northwest tweeted on Sunday night that it was going to Renton, Washington.
For the search, the Coast Guard sent out rescue helicopters, boats, and planes. The USCG said that there are also first responders from South Whidbey Fire, the Island County Sheriff’s Office, and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say they don’t know what caused the crash.
