Weber County police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a suspect in a child rape investigation.
On Thursday, officers went to a residence in an effort to locate missing 53-year-old Bryce Tyler and to execute a search warrant.
“It was necessary to bring in the Ogden Metro SWAT Team to carry out the search warrant because of the suspect’s lengthy criminal record and lack of mitigating circumstances. No sign of the suspect was found inside the house, “The Riverdale Police Department has issued a statement regarding the incident.
The public is being asked to contact authorities if they have any information on the whereabouts of Tyler, whom the police believe may be armed.
Do not try to make contact with the suspect on your own; instead, report any information you have to the police right away.
Anyone with information should contact Weber County dispatch at 801-629-8221 or 911.
The child rape case has not resulted in any charges being filed as of last Friday. No information regarding the case has been made public.
Police say Tyler’s daughter brought methamphetamine in a pipe to school, and in 2015, he pleaded guilty to two counts of endangerment of a child or elder adult, a third-degree felony. Court documents state that Tyler’s residence, which also housed a toddler and an infant, contained additional meth and drug paraphernalia discovered by police.
