Natalie Hodson, 37, is charged with vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury crash. She was booked into the Ada County Jail early Tuesday morning. In her initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon, the judge set her bond at $50,000. Prosecutors had asked for $250,000.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office reports that Kristina was murdered on Highway 55 between Beacon Light and Seamans Gulch Road when she was hit by a minivan while standing on the shoulder to inspect the rear of her trailer. Deputies found Kristina badly injured and began first aid. A few time after being taken to the hospital by paramedics, she was pronounced dead.
The Rowleys don’t want to focus on the tragedy that brought them together on Monday night. Kristina’s life, however, is being celebrated in order to pay tribute to her many accomplishments.
“I can’t figure out how she balanced everything in her life to accomplish everything that she did,” Michael Rowley, Kristina’s brother-in-law.
Kristina is described by her loved ones as someone who is constantly striving for more.
“She decided a few years ago that she was going to finish her [teaching] degree and one of the reasons was to set an example for her kids,” Michael said.
Kristina also planned to construct a brand-new house in the mountains. Michael claims that Kristina and her husband Chris spent all of their money on property in the Cascade area. From there, with the aid of her relatives and their own skills and resources, they constructed their ideal home.
Almost everything that needed to be done, Michael added, “Kristina she was in there drilling holes, pulling electrical wire, [laying] tile, pretty much whatever she could do, she did.”
But perhaps one of her biggest accomplishments was being a dedicated mother to three teenagers, Megan, Carson and Hannah, as well as a loving wife.
