SPANISH FORK — Spanish Fork police arrested three men Sunday evening — two of whom are on the football team at Snow College — after they allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint during a drug deal.

The armed robbery occurred near 600 North and 900 East around 8:45 p.m., according to Spanish Fork police. A man called police and reported that he had planned to sell marijuana to three people, who instead robbed him at gunpoint. When the three men arrived at the scene, two of them showed handguns during the drug transaction and took the marijuana from the victim, police said.

The man first said he was a witness to the robbery, but officers later determined he was the victim, police said.

The man gave police a description of the three men and the vehicle they were driving, and police later located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Officers located a .380-caliber handgun, two airsoft guns and a quarter pound of marijuana inside the vehicle, police said.

Police said have arrested three Snow College students in connection with the case: Xavier Juvon Francis, 19, Dreshown Ashton Dean, 19, and Cedric Donald Everson, 25. Francis and Dean are on the Snow College football team.

“They admitted to being there for the purpose of buying marijuana, and they also did admit it was their intent to brandish the handguns to take the marijuana from the individual without paying for it,” said Lt. Matt Johnson with the Spanish Fork Police Department.
